on-the-spot digital electrical metering and display

Description

When there is a need for measuring power whether it is power generated by a solar panel array or energy consumed by an air conditioner or whole house, Akida provides simple devices that provide real time data. This is a cost effective solution to any need where switching control is not required or feasible. Two configurations are provided where one is able to show data on a remote display.

on-the-spot digital electrical metering and display

Akida’s u-METER is a stand-alone device for measuring power. It utilizes a base level implementation of our TARAS technology and has no built-in communication. It was developed to meet a demand for an affordable device for measuring power – whether it is being generated (for example a solar panel array) or consumed (for example a water heater). The unit has an LCD screen that displays the energy data and it is provided with a power transformer. Sensor coils have to be installed based on the wiring configuration where the system is to be installed. A qualified cabling technician can install the unit in minutes and the unit will provide a digital readout of the power measured at that point. When no system integration or control capability is needed and all that is required is an energy reading, the u-METER is the most cost effective solution. Our customers have requested this unit when they could not justify the high cost of monitoring systems on solar panels and electrical manufacturing equipment.

single point monitoring with a remote In Home Display

Akida’s u-METER+IHD system is a simple, cost-efficient answer when a system is needed to monitor power at a remote location in the building and the data needs to be viewed at a monitor at a specific location in the building. A WiFi version of our u-METER+ gathers energy readings with two external coils and transmits the data to an In Home Display (IHD), which has a base level version of our Energy Gateway processor to analyze the data and provide a display of the consumption and cost information. Our customers are using this system for diagnostics since it only takes minutes to install on a faulty piece of equipment and the IHD can store data for analysis at a later date. For example when a solar panel array may not be producing the anticipated power, this system can be installed temporarily to observe the energy readings and to examine the data after a few days to determine if a problem exists. Homeowners can use this system to monitor their total home consumption by having the u-METER+ installed at the service panel and the IHD on their kitchen counter provides real time data and can serve as a reminder to reduce their energy cost. Commercial facilities can use the system as a stand-alone monitoring system where a remote display is needed of power consumption and cost for a particular load such as a machine or a section of the building.
