Digital Electrical Metering card
Description
[OEM] TARAS Card
Tiny size & easy integration into PCB design: The TARAS technology can be purchased in a handy card format so that it can be easily integrated into any electronic hardware that requires accurate on-board digital electrical metering. The card’s tiny 1.5 inch size means that it will not impact the final size of the PCB. The TARAS card uses standard pin connectors to integrate into a PCB and hardware developers can communicate with it directly to provide readings from sensor coils and receive the energy data readings from the card using our standardized communication protocol. Additionally the TARAS card’s on-board intelligence can relay commands directly to the load to reduce or terminate the energy consumption. The firmware allows for a stepped switch on/off if a “dimmer” control is available. The data packets from the card are in ASCII format using our standardized communication protocol so that it can be directly input into an analysis program to allow intelligent energy management decisions. This means, minimal hardware design is needed to provide the connectivity to the sensors and a system’s data processing center.
Perfect for OEM’s: The TARAS technology is perfect for OEM’s who desire to build cost-effective energy monitoring into their electrical products for their eco-conscious customers. TARAS allows two-way “open” communication (using any of the available platforms such as WiFi, Zigbee, PowerLine etc.) therefore the OEM will benefit from providing electrical equipment that can be managed via most energy management software systems. A bonus of our unique approach is that the TARAS card has no measurement range limitation since the current transformer coils, which are independently sized for each application, determine the measurement range. The same card can be used in a 400-amp service or a 15-amp receptacle. The TARAS card can therefore reduce the cost of sub-metering panels and simplify the installation of these systems. Effectively, a TARAS card can function as a sub-meter and needs only minimal additional hardware for the data communication so a 5 inch box could take the place of the typical 20 inch sub-meter panel.
Open communication platform + standard protocols = Easy system integration: Since TARAS is independent of the communication method and can be used with any of the available platforms such as PowerLine, WiFi, Zigbee etc., and additionally it is based on a standardized communication protocol, it delivers the benefit that hardware based on TARAS can be easily integrated into existing systems and networks. Furthermore the TARAS technology’s standardized data protocol means that devices based on TARAS can communicate with each other allowing them to be connected in any combination to form systems that can be configured to fit all requirements.
A unique aspect of the TARAS technology is that additional data from remote sensors such as thermostats and motion sensors can be channeled through the card so that it can easily be viewed and analyzed via end-user software. This means that automated sequences can be programmed into the system to manage energy consumption making the system intelligent and fully functional to fit most operating requirements. Another valuable aspect of the TARAS technology is the choice of any communication method, which allows system integrators to easily incorporate the technology into existing platforms (such as WiFi, Zigbee, PowerLine etc.).
